Danish Jewellery manufacturers PILGRIM approached me when they needed invites for the unveiling of their new company missionstatement and subsequent galla party. They wanted a classy agent-style look and the title "Mission: Possible" had already been settled on, I had to create a logo that had a "Mission: Impossible" feel to it, but I had a relatively free reign on the invites themselves. We went for old-school plane tickets and I designed them the way they'd look if they were super-exclusive and somewhat secret, adding little in-jokes and references in the ticket-details. The tickets were digitally printed with the name of the employee on the ticket for a personal touch. The key was to keep it about being an important part of a larger corperation, the personalised tickets and the "(Y)our mission..." text on the folder enhanced the personal mission feel. Time was limited on this project, so we had to avoid complicated die-cuts and I opted for hand-stapling the two tickets (event and party invites) into the folder. The service from the printers was appaling and caused me a couple of very late nights, stapling, phoning and complaining, waiting for yet another faulty delivery. In the end I had to cut and fold some of the tickets and folders myself, something I should have done from the start as the quality greatly improved... |
