This fridge magnet, designed for Octane 3 is one of the single designs I've done that I enjoyed the most - I went for education the masses w. the munchies by drawing a scientific diagram showing how magnetism works. I also stuck to my usual black and white iconography and yeah, there's a soldier with round glowing eyes as well... Octane 3 is a British art-toy store and I thought I'd make a little joke on the British obsession with World War II, so the soldier is based on a German WWII infantryman and thus the Fridge Magnet becomes the Fritz Magnet, I was afraid Octane 3 wouldn't go for something like that, so I didn't tell them. Sometimes keeping a bit of truth from your client is a good thing, no matter how much you love them. The magnets came in packages of three, so my set came with designs by two illustrators/artists and I'm not sure if that was the right approach saleswise as there was little chance of someone liking Jon Burgerman's work would fancy my design, but then again, a pack of three is a nice little cluster - it's a crowd, really and crowds are always fun. On an odd side note, my fridge isn't magnetic so I have none of these up... |
