The Create Escape

Ahh, few things beat the fun and hi-jinx of escaping a prison, POW camp or some other quirky hell-hole. These capers are always full of back to back comradery and silly guards are so damn crafty with all the paper mache fake-head-constructing and jolly pasport forgery that I had to make it into a workshop.

This one was slightly amputated as time was very short, so sadly no time for a lot of character design and aforementioned fake-head construction. All we had time for was the forged passport, or in this case "paspoort" as my students would go to Amsterdam the week after the workshop.

The point of the workshop was to get them to think about the more tangible sides of graphic design, paper quality, embossing and so on, furthermore - to highten the somewhat camp POW camp feel, everything had to be improvised, no computers, no copiers, no materials other than what they could find. Think of it as Screapheap Challenge for graphic designers.
Finally, this would give the students (foundation year) some excercise in dummy-making.
