Flag Day
Small drop-in event at LYNfabrikken in Denmark to introduce kids to design. Flag-day was born out of an addition we did to The Artic when we had taken over and Artic-fied the OKIDO pop-up shop in Brixton a few weeks earlier.

The event was organised to test our ethos and approach in a different country and a different setting and while it attracted kids, not a lot of grown-ups were willing to play.

Participants would design a flag and stick this on the top of one of our cardboard mountains to conquer it and name it they wished to.

Working with LYNfabrikken has, on a number of occasions, given me a great opportunity to test ideas and have provided a brilliant setting for these events.

This small workshop will evolve - there are several directions we consider taking this - events as idea generation.

Because of the design-theme as part of the playfulness, we included a research/idea development aspect in the form of the "Ideas for Flags" book for the flag-makers lacking inspiration - a library book on flags with a bunch of notes on colours, mythical creatures, symbols and shapes stuck in amongst the pages, suggesting visual clues and possible ideas to explore.
