Teaming up with artist and illustrator under the name The Artic we made and ran our stall for "Tea & Make" - a small arts, crafts, cakes and designs fair in Forest Hill, London.

Like most other stalls, we sold items of craft and design - arcticly inspired toys in our case, Our main reason for being there was our mask-making workshop for kids and adults alike. Using a template, visitors would trace and cut out their chosen mask. (polar beard or polar explorer beard) We would help them if needed and then add elastic band. The happy customer could then colour in as desired.

Annabelle Hartmann has previously studied memory work intensely, we had worked with the idea of the home made souvenir on previous occasions and this little project tapped into our combined experience in this field: The success of this event was largely due to the fact that the customers didn't buy a mask, they made a mask- Obvious as it sounds this "home made souvenir" approach changes your relationship to an object and adds a certain importance.
